This Aphrodite is ketch rigged, which means that the sail balance allows for better balance and stability when sailing downwind or on a broad reach. The presence of the mizzen sail helps to balance the boat, preventing the bow from burying into waves and reducing the tendency to round up in high winds. She was equipped with a larger main rigg that even provide a super balance even when the mizzen sail not hoisted.
Aphrodite is like Hallberg-Rassy, Malö, Regina af Vindö, built on the Swedish Westcoast and built high-quality with center cockpit, perfect as Bluewater cruiser. Refitted and upgraded for long-distance liveaboard cruising and ready for anything. Launched in 1990 Matilda has had just four private owners since build. All of these been Swedish and Swedish Flagged. She was constructed by Rex Marin in Henan (Aphrodite was later incorporated into Najad Yachts) to designs by Carl Beyer, the Aphrodite 42 enjoys an enviable reputation for solid construction, safe & predictable sailing manners and beautiful finishes. Purchased by her second owner with a view to embarking on a circumnavigation. Her current owned have sailed in the Nordics and lately in the Medeterainian, now in Portugal. She will be sailing north towards Sweden after having a maintenance in Lagos being polished and new antifoul done in Lagos, Portugal.
The interior is beautiful, classically lacquered precious mahogany and very well laid out. A master cabin with a double bed in the aft for 2 people. In the stern there is a roomy cabin with room for 2 people. In the Salon, at least 6 people sit comfortably in the 2 comfortable sofas, a U-shaped sofa on starboard side and a sofa/berth on port side with a large, beautiful fold-out table. It is also possible to use sofas as berths. There is also plenty of space in various cupboards and storage areas under sofas and some space under floor. In addition, there is also a navigation station with all instruments and plenty of space for navigation planning etc. The kitchen/pantry is well equipped with plenty of space for cooking on gas stove and gas oven as well as excellent space in cupboards. There is also two very spacious and well-furnished refrigerators. One top loaded in kitchen table and one door opened refrigerator.
Two bathrooms. One as ensuite by the aft cabin, including separate shower area, and one on the starboard side in the forward part of the boat. Both toilets with manual pump, and of course with septic tank.
In addition to the fixed windows, the well-protected cockpit has a fine sprayhood that protects against vind, sea splashes and sun, and has plenty of room for a comfortable everyday life outside as well as for safe sailing. There is also a boom cover and even a amazing cockpit tent for additional protection against rain and sun if desired. A bathing platform and ladder are mounted on the stern.
The boat can be sailed from the cockpit as all lines can be controlled from here and can thus be relatively easily sailed by 1 person if desired.
Over the years, installations, valves, and seacocks been continuously replaced and updated. Teak deck was replaced 2016. The rig was replaced in 2016 (all wires) and regularly inspected.

This is a boat that is ready for ocean passages, live aboard and cruising. Arrangements can be made for video viewing of the boat and scheduled viewings either in Lagos Portugal or along the coast towards the Nordics. Delivery of the yacht to other European locations can be arranged separately if required
