The perfect boat for both open sea sailing and for entering shallow and coastal waters like the canals in Europe. Great boat for single-handed sailing or for a couple. Everything on the boat is simplified for easy life onboard and maintenance but still good comfort for live aboard while cruising.
This is the original design of the Swifture, but even later models marketed as the COMMODORE SWIFTSURE, were both sold through Seafarer Yachts. So a well known boat back in the days. The first boats, built by , Inc., have a permanently-fixed cabin table with two leaves that fold down when not in use. At the aft end of the table is a hollow stainless pole that runs from the cabin sole to the bottom of the cabin ceiling, through which, runs a housing for the centerboard control cable. The SWIFTSURE has bronze deck hardware and fittings, and mahogany trim.
Enter the Comfortable Cockpit of this classic yacht, well protected as it has the aft deck behind the cockpit, and you sit low and protected in the deep cockpit. The painted deck (not teakdeck!), is wide and you move around safely even on this relatively small boat, behind the protecting guard rails. Entering the inside of the boat from the cockpit, the sink and gas stove are on portside and instruments/navigation on starboard. In the salon there is a fold-up table in the middle and two sofas (can be used as extra beds) on each side. Forward is owners cabin and with access to the head (compost head – a great solution that is smell free and do not require waste tank). Headroom is appr 190cm in the Salon/Pentry.
Boat size is optimal for low-cost mooring in marinas and also for shallow entries in bays and areas not accessible to many other sailors. Fair Endavour is currently hauled out on the wharf Sopromar in Lagos, but planned to get back in water later this year.
Current owners have had Fair Endavour since 1986. Their earlier cruising areas were on the East coast of the UK where her lifting keel came in handy due to it being a very muddy shallow coast.
During holidays they cruised the Northern French coast. In the late 80s they took Fair Endeavour down through the French Canals to the Med where again the lifting keel was an essential asset with the shallow waterways. They then spent a year cruising the Mediterranean coast including Italy, Corsica, Elba. etc. They spent the next few years on the West coast of the UK mostly in Wales along with cruises to Ireland. With their kids arriving they went back to the East coast and then spent a few years sailing over to the Netherlands where the children thoroughly enjoyed the safe sailing on the Veerse Meer. A further mast lift and European Canal cruise to the Med enabled many family Summer cruises in the West and East Med. More recently they dropped the mast again and used the Port of Valence on the Rhone to organize the new mast and rig before exiting into the Med and undertaking a Winter 2019 port-hopping cruise along the French and Spanish coasts.
Since arriving in Portugal they have explored the Algarve coast. But now due to many other adventures and plans they are ready to let her go to new owners.
Survey Report available from May 2022. The boat is currently registered in UK Small Ship Register but been in EU during Brexit and therefore EU VAT paid status.
