Jeanneau 54 DS 2005

New price €285,000

General Information

The Sun Odyssey 54 DS (Deck Salon) is a French cruising sailboat, with the hull designed by Jacques Fauroux, the Jeanneau Design Office providing finishing and Vittorio Garroni the styling. Work was commenced in 2002 and production started in 2004.

This Jeanneau 54 Deck Salon, a 2-cabin owners version is super well maintained and continuously updated, as soon as there was the slightest need! The equipment list is impressive and maintenance continues unabated, even now that the boat is being laid up for a few months in Lagos, Portugal. The boat has only had one owner, – who ordered it from Jeanneau, and registered it in Denmark in 2005. The boat has only been sailed by the current owner and has never been chartered. Opus One has simply been this Danish couple’s second home during these years. EU VAT (EU MOMS) is of course paid and documented.

In addition to the Scandinavian coastal areas, the current owners sailed along the coasts of Europe, the English Channel and the Bay of Biscay down to the Algarve coast and further into the Mediterranean. Fantastic experiences over many years, easily sailed by just the two of them, but also wonderful trips with friends in this lovely, spacious sailing yacht. You simply don’t miss anything in this spacious yacht. With this deck saloon boat, Jeanneau has built an elegant, bright and spacious cruiser, that is extremely comfortable to live on board and is still a powerful sailor.

The Jeanneau 54 DS has been featured in a number of sailing magazines and has consistently received praise for its design, spaciousness and sailing characteristics. Sail Magazine concluded that ”The state of boatbuilding is such that there are very few lemons these days, but that doesn’t mean all boats are equal. Many boats are good, but only a few are truly great. The Jeanneau 54 is a great boat”.

The boat is designed by Jacques Fauroux. It is a 2-cabin version with a huge master cabin in the stern, with an en-suite toilet/bathroom and separate shower room. Well-arranged storage and wardrobes, sound system and TV. The forward cabin is a large and spacious double cabin that is usually only seen as a master cabin in other models. Here, too, it is well-appointed with plenty of closet and storage space and a very comfortable double bed. This cabin also has access to its own bathroom/toilet with a lovely ”shower cabin”.

The saloon has double seating areas, both with a table. The feeling is like a large living room with both a dining table and a sofa group/table. The sofas are in good condition and look like new with well-maintained bright cushions.

The navigation station is well equipped with navigation equipment from Raymarine, with updated plotter (2014) – the impressively large C140 Widescreen, Radar input on the plotter from the updated 2014 radar, AIS, Navtex, VHF and other equipment. The large ONAN 7.5 kw diesel generator, which is sparingly used with only about 450 hours, is serviced every year.
There is also a Watermaker – 60 liter/h DUO 60 Dessalator, which is in very good condition with only 136 hours of operation.

The pantry is well equipped with a 4 burner gas stove and oven. As this has spark ignition issues, the owners plan to upgrade with a similar but new stove in the coming months. Large freezer/cooler and a door-opening fridge, Extractor hood, Microwave and complete miscellaneous kitchen equipment/ware.

An impressive 5kg washing machine fits under the bench for the navigation station. The powerful 100hp Yanmar engine is in very good condition and has approximately 1950 engine hours. The owners have typically serviced the engine with new filters and oil twice a year as well as other regular belt and impeller maintenance. Heating at sea is done via Webasto Heaters – 2 diesel heaters in the stern, with thermostats in the saloon for the starboard and port side, respectively, provide ample nice and dry heat throughout the boat, and can therefore easily handle Nordic conditions.

Steering and maneuvering space with Raymarine ST60 instruments for wind, course, autopilot etc. and another of the impressive large C140 widescreen Raymarine plotter with navigation, radar, radar overlay, AIS (from 2018) etc. in the middle between the two maneuvering spaces. Naturally also with VHF available, in addition to the 2 portable VHF radios. The bow thruster is of course also controlled from here. A really nice feature is the electric furlex for the genoa, which is controlled by push buttons in the floor between the steering positions. The electric furlex was replaced in 2016. The mainsail and genoa from North Sail are in very good condition and from 2014, and the sails have typically been inspected annually by a sailmaker. This also the case this year. Includes unused storm sail and Gennaker with associated sheets and shackles. There is also an inner forestay/cutter stay that was fitted from the start. This is a good extra security for the rig but is of course also used when using a storm sail.
The rig has been inspected by professional riggers in 2022. In the cockpit there are 2 large electric Harken 66 Genoa winches as well as a manual and an electric Harken 46 on the rooftop.

Teak deck is original and in good condition. The teak in the cockpit is also original, but new plates for part of this area are available as an accessory with the boat should you wish to replace.

The large and spacious cockpit has a complete set of top-quality cockpit cushions from Jeanneau and is virtually unused. The sprayhood is in good condition and from 2016. There is also a large Bimini. This is prepared with zippers for mounting sides should you wish to convert this into a cockpit tent later. For cover/protection, there are canvas covers for the steering wheel on both sides, as well as for the table and bimini. All of this has been inspected and the windows in the sprayhood replaced a few years ago.

On the boat there is of course a life raft (overhauled 2022), in the bow a CQR anchor 37 kg, with 12mm 80 meter chain, as well as extra Fortress anchor, a Zodiak (2005) inflatable and an 8hp 2-stroke outboard engine.

The barberque on the sea rail is of course included.

The boat can be picked up in Lagos on the Algarve coast and is ready for new comfortable long trips in the Mediterranean or around the world in 1st class. Simply a super well-maintained luxury sailor with all amenities and minimal wear and tear. A boat that must be seen!

The boat will be on the hard at the Sopromar shipyard in Lagos in early June and can be viewed on land.

Magazine articles with tests of this fine Jeanneau 54 DS model are available as a pdf file and will be sent on request.
