Stunning GRP (Fiberglas) Blue Water Cruiser in a historical Classic design, delivered 2012
Here is the most stunning classic yacht built in GRP that can be handled by only 1-2 persons. A Blue Water Cruiser for a family or two, or why not as a Charter Boat creating that extra income while cruising. This is a Yacht you must see! – Currently moored in Portimão, Portugal.
The Elley Grey is a stunning 65ft (Deck) Ketch Pilot House sailing Yacht by Gaffers &, Luggers in Mylor Creek, Falmouth, U.K. Inspired by the by Francoise Lamcard drawings from 1896. Eley Grey is a super strong GRP construction built up with 14 layers of cloth either side of the keel and with 28 layers over the keel. Whilst retaining her traditional looks, the gaff ketch rig uses modern materials and equipment to make the boat more manageable by a short-handed crew. The Deck is laid (glued – not screwed) on top of the strong GRP deck and is Pine wood. She is easy to handle by two people, as she has all modern equipment such as powerful Bow thruster, Electric Furlexes and much more. As a live-aboard the boat is equipped with everything you wish for in a modern and practical home, such as huge water and diesel tanks, lots of light coming in thru the large hatches, even a “fireplace” and, all you can wish for in a modern kitchen. 2* 10kW Northern Lights Generators, large battery banks, so all appliances as freezers, and others run on standard 220 Volt AC.
On the aft deck – opening two large hatches you even find a stunning Jacuzzi…
Stepping onboard the huge deck you are greeted by the impression of an old wooden luxury classic yacht fitted with traditional bronze winches and hatches and varnished railings and large teak table with comfortable seating for 8. Comfortable and safe to walk around on deck, hoist the dinghy to its cradle on deck, and sit under the nice sun cover around the large teak table or aft in a couple of sunchairs, when not lying in the jacuzzi watching the stars and sky.
Entering the wheelhouse with all you need of instruments and control as well as an area for resting during longer passages. In the Wheelhouse excellent all-round vision from behind the steering wheel. The wheelhouse, constructed of aluminum and clad in varnished teak that give the yacht the typical classic look and even give the possibility to reach wheel and bow thruster control from outside thru the window to the wheelhouse – practical when entering marinas or entering anchorages.
From the wheelhouse down the companionway into an amazing interior where she reveals her true nature, you first get to the Galley/Dining Area. The Galley is positioned on the Port side and designed in a practical U-shape layout, with plenty of space even for several people at the same time. The Galley includes a double electric oven, 7 ring induction hob, and integrated microwave oven. Fitted into the teak worktop is a large twin stainless steel sink with hot and cold running water from classic designed water taps to match the classic feeling of the yacht. In the Galley, covered under beautiful teak top, are two large freezers. Furthermore, a draw-opening fridge and a full-size domestic washing machine (all standard 220V AC appliances).
On the starboard side is a large wooden dining table with plenty of space for seating 6 diners in comfort with a moveable bench on one side and a sofa on the other.
Leading forward from the Galley/Dining area, through a separating doorway, is the Central Saloon. As with the Galley/Dining the Saloon has ample headroom and includes two leather settees positioned around a central wooden table. Against the aft interior bulkhead is an electric flame-effect convection fireplace. The roof that includes a large, glazed hatch practical when loading the yacht with supplies or machinery, provides a fantastic bright and airy feeling. The Saloon includes lots of space for storage as well as full length berths down both Port and Starboard sides. If a new owner would like more cabins for crew, this saloon could be modified to cabins instead.
Leading further forward from the Saloon is the Forward suite that comprises the fore cabin and the forward heads. The fore cabin has a double berth under which there is access to the forward machinery space, the forward air conditioning plant and the bow thruster. Here is even the large (newer used) water maker installed.
The forward heads, with its tasteful tile floors, include toilet and shower in classic design.
Aft from the Galley/Dining Area is the spacious Master suite which includes a Queen size double, further separate berth on the starboard side, vanity unit and a small library with a leather settee. At the end of the bed is a flat screen satellite TV. There is a large number of closets and storage even here.
The Master suite also has a large en-suite head and is fitted with a generous shower. Of course, again with stylish tile flooring.
Leading from the Galley/Dining Area on port side is a Day Toilet with basin. From here there is access to the large engine and main machinery space with a Gardner 6LXBM, 150 hp engine, chargers, inverters, generators and inverters. All easy access and good access to all engine maintenance and service points.
There is an oil-fired central heating system which heats everything including the Jacuzzi. Heating is provided throughout the boat by radiators fed from the boiler. Air conditioning is provided by four Cruz AC units that provide cool air to the principal cabin spaces as well as ducting to the Wheelhouse. These units reversible so can either heat or cool.
With only one owner, this yacht has been meticulously maintained, showcasing luxury and comfort ideal for both living aboard and global voyaging. The current owner who was a big part of designing and building her sailed European waters, crossing the Bay of Biscay numerous times and sailed all of the European Atlantic coast, the waters of Great Britain and not least most of the Mediterranean. She has proven herself in all types of sea and weather and never let the crew down. It is however now time for Elley Grey to move on to new owners and new adventures.
