Van De Stadt 40 Ocean – 1995

Amazingly updated quality steel Yacht that stands out in beauty and seaworthiness. A boat you must see. This is the perfect and very affordable Cruising Yacht for a couple or small families who want to travel safely with style and comfort – no matter what the destination!

Van de Stadt Carribean 40 with great sailing characteristics in comfortable owner version. Just under 12 meter – makes her a perfect size for small crews as couples and enter the lower fees (under 12 meter) in many Marinas. Constructed in Mekon Shipyard (NL) and extensively refitted in a professional Dutch yacht service. She excels in seaworthiness and comfort with her amazing doghouse (providing shelter in all conditions), cockpit tent (providing additional shelter at sea but also nice additional living space at anchor and in the marinas) as well as a big genoa and a small jib (both on furler and operational in all conditions – as all sails – from the cockpit) but also a Code Zero on a furler for smooth sailing conditions. Her beautiful mahogany interior and many lovely details (e.g. slatted bed base in owner cabin, beautiful upholstery in salon and for the cockpit, steering wheel covered in leather, big and small cockpit table, insulated hull (above WL)) improve her live-aboard and cruising capability making her a perfect Blue Water Cruiser and live-aboard. She got extensively refitted with a new – stronger – 75HP-engine and 4-blade folding prop, International hull + deck paint, extensive new navigational electronics and many more renewals by a yacht service from around 2019-2021 in Netherlands. New turbocharger and prop shaft added in 2022 (both in Germany), new Antifouling (International) applied in 2024. Due to the extensive refit as well as regular maintenance, major works/cost already covered for the next years. Sailed from Germany to the Canary Islands, around the Islands and to the Algarve from 2022 to 2024, with a live-a-board period of eight months in 2022/2023, she is provenly ready for all kinds of pleasures and adventures and awaits her new owners in an absolute ready-to-cruise condition.

When you get onboard you are greeted by the huge cockpit and aft deck. The cockpit with its large practical doghouse is what all Blue Water Cruisers dream about. Super well protected from the elements and in the cockpit, everything is optimally placed so that the boat can be easily sailed by one or two people. You can safely sail her from the cockpit without having to go on deck during the sail. The high backrests in the cockpit provide comfort and convenience, and under the large sprayhood and bimini, you are well protected from the elements. Even a Cockpit tent is available (see pictures) that makes it a very practical extra room when on anchor or in marinas. Huge storage in the and behind the cockpit, and even the targa frame on the aft.

When you come down the stairs to the salon, you are greeted by the impression of quality, with practical, top-class mahogany interior mixed with newer textiles, bright ceiling, and practical galley, The floor in classic teak and with lots of storage spaces underneath.

On Port side behind the galley, a double aft cabin with good storage facilities is located. On Starboard side aft, behind the navigation area, the roomy bathroom/head with toilet and shower.

In front of the aft cabin on the port side is the galley/kitchen with double sink, gas oven and gas stove and plenty of cupboard space, large fridge/freezer/box in countertop.

On the other side of the galley on the starboard side is the navigation area with everything needed for instruments, communication, and navigation as well as a panel for electrical installations and control of the switch panel.

In front of the galley and navigation area you find the large salon with one long sofa on port side and two chair solution on starboard – with a large table with foldable sides in the middle. Master double cabin in the forward part of the boat with spacious wardrobes and storage.

History of the boat:
The boat has had a total of min. four owners over the years. The last owner did some local sailing in the Netherlands and the channel but spend most time upgrading and equip her for worldwide cruise sailing. The current owner sailed the North Sea and across the Biscay to Southern Europe and all the way to the Canary Islands and to Portugal. Sailed locally in Portuguese waters lately. Due to time issues the current owner now decided to let his beloved boat move on to new owners who can enjoy Blue Water Cruising or whatever adventures they want. The boat has proven she masters all sea and weather.
